2. Blockboards

A blockboard is a solid panel consisting of a core made out of staves glued together and stabilized with the aid of 2 faces of at least 2 mm thickness.

Blockboards have a lot of advantages:

- High stability and bending strength.
- Light weight.
- High screw extraction resistance.
- High humidity resistance compared to MDF or chipboard.
- Available in big sizes up to 5.400 mm.
- Susceptible to be produced in special sizes without waste.
- Allows the use of the label ‘’solid wood’’ in furniture production.

The HS Timber Group offers blockboards from its factory in Comanesti (Romania) in a wide variety of products:

- Faces in HDF, chipboard or rotary cut veneers such as Ceiba, poplar or beech.
- Raw faces, or covered with all types of sliced veneers, melamines, HPL or film for concrete shuttering.
- Cores in spruce, poplar, or ultra-light woods such as Albasia or Fuma.
- Cores STAB or STAE (laminboard).
- 1-layer cores o 3-layer for important thicknesses.
